Studying these pictures should give you ideas of where you would like your UHF installed, we normally install them with a minimum number of holes drilled.

Description of the photo.

RFI On Glass AP454-3G.

This antenna is glued to the glass and works  capacitively through the glass (no holes required in the glass). We can tune these antennas so well that the losses through the glass are unmeasurable on reasonable instruments. This antenna works well and is unobtrusive and  causes minimal physical damage to the car after removal. We find that it will perform as good as a1/4 wave antenna carefully installed in the centre of a car roof.

We occasionally find a vehicle that because of the tinting on the glass or material in the glass the capacitance is wrong. We are making a database of the different types of tint and glass. We do not install on-glass antennas on glass, that has a capacitance of more the 2pf.

WE CAN EASILY MEASURE THE CAPACITANCE BEFORE WE START.
